Section A β€” Basic Questions About UP AYUSH Counselling 2026

Q1. What is UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

UP AYUSH Counselling 2026 is the official, centralised, online counselling process conducted by the Department of AYUSH, Government of Uttar Pradesh, for admission to undergraduate AYUSH courses β€” BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BNYS β€” in government and private AYUSH colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The counselling is conducted in partnership with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the overall UG counselling authority is the Director General Medical Education and Training (DGME), Lucknow, UP.

Admission through this process is entirely merit-based and is determined by your NEET UG 2026 score and rank.

Q2. Who conducts UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

UP AYUSH Counselling 2026 is conducted by the Department of AYUSH, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The UG counselling authority is the Director General Medical Education and Training (DGME), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The technical infrastructure is managed by NIC (National Informatics Centre).

Q3. What is the official website for UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

The official and only authorised website for UP AYUSH Counselling 2026 is:

upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in

All registrations, fee payments, choice filling, merit lists, seat allotment results, allotment letters, and official notices are published exclusively on this portal. Always use only this website β€” do not trust any other link claiming to be the UP AYUSH counselling portal.

Q4. Which courses are covered under UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

UP AYUSH Counselling 2026 covers admission to the following undergraduate AYUSH courses:

CourseFull NameDuration
BAMSBachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery5.5 Years
BHMSBachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery5.5 Years
BUMSBachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery5.5 Years
BSMSBachelor of Siddha Medicine & Surgery5.5 Years
BNYSBachelor of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences5.5 Years

BAMS has the highest number of seats and colleges in UP and is the most widely applied-for course through this counselling.

Q5. Is UP AYUSH Counselling only for Uttar Pradesh students?

For the 85% state quota seats in government AYUSH colleges, UP domicile is mandatory β€” meaning only students who have studied Class 12 from a school recognised by a UP university, within UP or the UP-NCR region, are eligible.

For private AYUSH college seats under UP state quota, the domicile requirement may vary β€” some private college seats are open to all-India candidates. Always check the official seat matrix on upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in for specific seat-type eligibility.

Students from outside UP who want AYUSH admission in UP private colleges should check with Careerkick for accurate guidance.

Q6. What is the difference between UP AYUSH Counselling and AACCC Counselling?

This is one of the most common questions Careerkick receives. Here is the exact difference:

Section B β€” Eligibility Questions

Q7. Is NEET compulsory for UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

Yes. NEET UG 2026 qualification is absolutely compulsory. There is no separate AYUSH entrance exam in Uttar Pradesh. Your NEET UG 2026 score and rank are the only basis for merit-list ranking and seat allotment in UP AYUSH Counselling.

Candidates who have not appeared for NEET UG 2026 or have not secured the minimum qualifying percentile are not eligible to participate in UP AYUSH Counselling under any circumstances.

Q8. What is the minimum NEET score required for UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

CategoryMinimum Percentile Required
General / OBC50th Percentile
SC / ST / Reserved45th Percentile
PwD (General)45th Percentile

It is important to note that securing the minimum qualifying percentile makes you eligible to participate in counselling β€” but it does not guarantee a seat. Seat allotment is based on your rank and the availability of seats after all higher-ranked candidates have been allotted.

Q9. What academic qualifications are required for UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

CriteriaRequirement
Qualification10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board
Mandatory SubjectsPhysics, Chemistry and Biology
Minimum Marks β€” General/OBC50% aggregate in PCB subjects
Minimum Marks β€” SC/ST/Reserved45% aggregate in PCB subjects
Minimum Age17 years as on 31st December of the admission year

Q10. Is there any special eligibility requirement for BUMS admission in UP?

Yes. For admission to BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery), candidates must have studied Urdu, Arabic, or Persian as a subject in Class 10 or Class 12.

If you have not studied any of these languages previously, you will be required to study Urdu as a compulsory subject during the First Professional BUMS session at your allotted college. This is a regulatory requirement by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and cannot be waived.

Q11. Can a student from outside Uttar Pradesh apply for UP AYUSH Counselling?

Students from outside UP can participate in UP AYUSH Counselling but only for seats that are not restricted by domicile β€” primarily certain private AYUSH college seats. They are NOT eligible for the 85% state quota seats in government AYUSH colleges in UP.

For the 15% All India Quota seats in UP government AYUSH colleges, students from any state should apply through AACCC at aaccc.gov.in β€” not through UP AYUSH Counselling.

Q12. Can I apply for UP AYUSH Counselling if I have a gap year after Class 12?

Yes. There is no rule that disqualifies candidates with a gap year from applying for UP AYUSH Counselling. However, you must submit a notarised Gap Year Affidavit as part of your documentation during the document verification stage at the nodal centre. The affidavit must clearly state the reason for the gap year.

Section C β€” Registration Questions

The complete registration process is as follows:

  1. VisitΒ upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in

  3. Enter your NEET UG 2026 Roll Number and Application Number β€” your details will be auto-fetched from the NTA database
  4. Click “Confirm” to proceed
  5. Enter your valid mobile number and email ID β€” these will be used for all counselling communications
  6. Create a password of maximum 6 characters for your login account
  7. Upload all required documents in the prescribed format and file size
  8. Pay the non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 2,000 online
  9. Download and save your Registration Confirmation Page

Q14. What is the registration fee for UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

Fee TypeAmountRefundable?
Round 1 Registration FeeRs. 2,000Non-Refundable
Round 2 / Mop-Up Re-RegistrationRs. 1,000Non-Refundable

The Rs. 2,000 registration fee is paid only once and covers participation in all rounds of counselling. If you have not registered in a previous round and wish to participate in Round 2 or the Mop-Up Round, you will need to pay an additional Rs. 1,000 processing fee.

Payment is accepted only online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI at the official portal.

Q15. Do I need to register again for Round 2 or the Mop-Up Round?

If you have already registered and paid the Rs. 2,000 fee in Round 1, you do not need to register again for Round 2. Your registration carries forward automatically.

However, you do need to fill fresh choices for each round β€” your Round 1 choices do not automatically carry over to Round 2. If you did not register in Round 1 and wish to participate in Round 2 or the Mop-Up Round, you must register fresh and pay Rs. 1,000.

Q16. Can I make changes to my registration after submitting it?

Personal details entered during registration are generally not editable after submission. This is why it is extremely important to verify all your details β€” name, NEET roll number, date of birth, category, domicile status β€” carefully before submitting your registration.

If you notice an error, contact the UP AYUSH counselling helpline immediately at upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in. Do not wait β€” errors in registration can impact your eligibility and seat allotment.

Q17. I forgot my password for the UP AYUSH Counselling portal. What should I do?

Use the “Forgot Password” feature on the upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in login page. You will be required to enter the information you provided during registration along with your registered mobile number or email ID to reset your password. Ensure you use the same mobile number and email ID you used at the time of registration.

  • UP AYUSH Seat Allotment Letter (printed from upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in)

Careerkick Tip: Prepare a minimum of 5 complete photocopy sets of all documents, arranged in labelled folders by category. Originals are verified on-site and returned, but you must bring them without fail.

Q20. What is the validity requirement for the OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate?

The OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate must be issued on or after 1st April 2026 and must be in the prescribed UP government format issued by a competent authority in Uttar Pradesh. Certificates issued before 1st April 2026 are not accepted, even if they are otherwise valid. Plan accordingly and get your certificate updated well before the counselling process begins.

Q21. Is a UP Domicile Certificate mandatory for all candidates?

A UP Domicile Certificate is mandatory for candidates applying under the 85% UP State Quota seats. Without a valid UP Domicile Certificate, you will not be eligible for state quota seats in UP government AYUSH colleges.

For private AYUSH college seats that are open to all-India candidates, a UP Domicile Certificate may not be required. Check the official seat matrix for specific eligibility details.

Section E β€” Choice Filling Questions

Q22. When does choice filling open for UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

Choice filling opens after the State Merit List is published β€” which happens after the registration window closes. The exact dates are published on upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in. Candidates must log in during the choice filling window and submit and lock their choices before the deadline.

Q23. How many choices can I fill in UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

There is no upper limit on the number of choices you can fill. You can add as many colleges and courses as you wish. Careerkick strongly recommends filling the maximum possible choices in order of genuine preference. More choices means more chances of getting allotted to at least one college β€” especially if your NEET rank is in the moderate range.

Q24. What happens if I do not lock my choices before the deadline?

In some counselling systems, if choices are not manually locked, the last saved set of choices is automatically locked. However, it is your responsibility to lock your choices before the deadline. Do not rely on the automatic locking feature.

If choices are neither filled nor locked, you will not be considered for seat allotment in that round. This is one of the most preventable mistakes in AYUSH counselling β€” set a reminder and lock well before the deadline.

Q25. Can I change my choices after locking them?

No. Once your choices are locked, they cannot be changed for that round. This is why it is extremely important to review your preference order carefully before locking. Once the lock is confirmed, the system treats it as your final preference list for that round.

Q26. What is the best strategy for filling choices in UP AYUSH Counselling?

Based on Careerkick’s counselling experience with thousands of UP AYUSH students, here is the most effective choice filling strategy:

  • Always place your most preferred course and college first
  • Place government colleges before private colleges if government is your priority
  • Do not restrict yourself to 5 or 10 choices β€” fill every eligible college and course combination
  • If you want BAMS over BHMS, make sure all your BAMS choices come before BHMS choices
  • Include a mix of colleges across different cities and fee ranges to improve allotment probability
  • Research each college’s recognition status and hospital infrastructure before adding it to your list β€” Careerkick can help you with this assessment

Section F β€” Seat Allotment Questions

Q27. How is seat allotment done in UP AYUSH Counselling 2026?

Seat allotment in UP AYUSH Counselling is entirely merit-based. The allotment algorithm works as follows:

  • Your NEET UG 2026 rank determines your position in the State Merit List
  • The algorithm processes candidates from highest rank to lowest rank
  • For each candidate, the system checks their locked choices in order of preference
  • The first available seat matching a candidate’s preference and category is allotted
  • Higher-ranked candidates get preference over lower-ranked candidates for the same seat

This is why both rank and choice filling strategy matter equally.

Q28. How many rounds does UP AYUSH Counselling 2026 have?

UP AYUSH Counselling 2026 is conducted in four rounds:

RoundFor Whom
Round 1All registered eligible candidates
Round 2Unallotted candidates from Round 1 + candidates who want upgradation
Mop-Up RoundOnly candidates not allotted in any previous round
Stray Vacancy RoundFinal round if seats remain vacant after all previous rounds

Careerkick advises every student to participate in all available rounds. Do not give up after Round 1 β€” quality government AYUSH college seats regularly become available in Round 2 and the Mop-Up Round.

Q29. What should I do after getting a seat allotment in UP AYUSH Counselling?

If you are allotted a seat, follow these steps without delay:

  1. Log in to upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in and download your Provisional Allotment Letter
  2. Read the allotment letter carefully β€” note the college name, course, joining date, and fee details
  3. Report to the allotted college on the specified joining date with all original documents
  4. Pay the first-year tuition fee at the time of joining
  5. Complete all joining formalities as specified by the college

If you do not report on time, your seat is automatically cancelled. This is non-negotiable.

Q30. What happens if I do not report to the allotted college on time?

If you fail to report to your allotted AYUSH college within the time specified in your allotment letter, your seat is automatically cancelled and forfeited. You may also forfeit your security deposit depending on the round and conditions. You will not be eligible for re-allotment in the same round.

Reporting on time is one of the most critical steps in the entire counselling process. Mark your joining date as a firm, non-negotiable commitment the moment you receive your allotment letter.

Q31. Can I upgrade my seat to a better college in a later round?

Yes. If you are allotted a seat in Round 1 but wish to upgrade to a better college or course, you can express willingness for upgradation when confirming your Round 1 seat. You will then participate in Round 2 with new choices for your preferred upgraded seat.

Your Round 1 seat is held securely until your upgraded allotment is confirmed. If no upgrade is allotted in Round 2, you continue with your Round 1 seat.

Q32. I was not allotted a seat in Round 1. Can I still get a seat?

Yes. Many students who are not allotted in Round 1 successfully get seats in Round 2 and the Mop-Up Round. Here is why:

  • Candidates allotted in Round 1 who withdraw or do not report create vacancies
  • Candidates who upgrade from one seat to another leave their original seat vacant
  • All these vacancies are made available in subsequent rounds

Never withdraw from counselling after Round 1. Keep participating β€” your seat may be one round away.

Section G β€” Fees and Security Deposit Questions

Q33. What is the security deposit in UP AYUSH Counselling?

The security deposit is a refundable amount paid at the time of seat acceptance or document verification, separate from the registration fee. The amount varies depending on whether you are taking admission in a government or private AYUSH college.

This deposit is adjusted against your first-year tuition fee when you join the allotted college. It is refunded if you do not take admission or withdraw under the permitted conditions. Check upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in for the exact security deposit amount applicable in 2026.

Q34. Is the registration fee of Rs. 2,000 refundable?

No. The registration fee of Rs. 2,000 is completely non-refundable, regardless of whether you get a seat allotment, participate in all rounds, or do not join after allotment. This fee is mandatory for participation and must be paid online at upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in.

Q35. When and how is the security deposit refunded?

The security deposit is refunded after the completion of all counselling rounds, under the following conditions:

  • You did not get any seat allotment in any round
  • You withdrew from counselling within the permitted withdrawal window under the applicable rules
  • Your admission was not confirmed for any other valid reason

Refunds are processed online to the bank account linked at the time of payment. Check the official refund policy on upayushcounseling.upsdc.gov.in for exact conditions applicable in 2026.

Section H β€” AACCC and AIQ Questions

Q36. Should I apply for both UP AYUSH Counselling and AACCC counselling?

Yes β€” absolutely. This is one of the most important pieces of advice Careerkick gives every UP AYUSH aspirant.

UP AYUSH Counselling manages 85% state quota seats. AACCC manages the 15% All India Quota seats plus all Deemed University seats. They run in parallel with no conflict. Applying to both significantly expands the number of seats you are competing for β€” which directly increases your probability of securing admission.

Registration on both portals requires separate fees and processes. Both are worth doing.

Q37. What is the All India Quota (AIQ) in AYUSH admission?

The All India Quota refers to 15% of seats in government AYUSH colleges across all states β€” reserved for merit-based admission through a centralised, all-India counselling process managed by AACCC (AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee) at aaccc.gov.in.

For AIQ seats, UP domicile is not required β€” any NEET-qualified student from any state in India can apply. These seats are filled purely on the basis of NEET rank and choice preferences.

Section I β€” Career and Course Questions

Q38. Which is better β€” BAMS, BHMS, or BUMS?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions at Careerkick and there is no single correct answer β€” it depends on your interests, career goals, NEET rank, and the opportunities available in your region.

CourseBest For
BAMSStudents interested in Ayurveda, herbal medicine, Panchakarma, classical treatment and government service
BHMSStudents interested in Homeopathy, chronic disease management and holistic patient care
BUMSStudents interested in Unani medicine, particularly with a background in Urdu language and culture
BNYSStudents interested in Naturopathy, Yoga therapy and wellness-focused practice

All four are 5.5-year degree programs recognised by the respective Central Councils under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. All provide eligibility for government recruitment, private practice, and postgraduate specialisation.

Contact Careerkick for personalised guidance on the right AYUSH course based on your specific profile and goals.

Q39. What is the career scope after BAMS or BHMS in 2026?

The career scope after BAMS and BHMS has never been stronger than it is in 2026. Key career pathways include:

  • Government service β€” AYUSH Medical Officer positions through UP state health service exams
  • Private clinical practice β€” setting up your own BAMS or BHMS clinic
  • Hospital employment β€” AYUSH hospitals, wellness centres, corporate hospitals with AYUSH departments
  • Postgraduate specialisation β€” MD (Ayurveda) or MD (Homeopathy) through AIAPGET
  • Academic and teaching roles β€” Lecturer or Assistant Professor in AYUSH colleges (requires PG)
  • International practice β€” growing demand in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and the Gulf for trained AYUSH practitioners
  • Government wellness programmes β€” PM-AYUSH, Ayushman Bharat, National AYUSH Mission

Q40. Can I pursue MD AYUSH after BAMS or BHMS from a UP college?

Yes. After completing your BAMS or BHMS degree (including the mandatory 1-year internship) from a recognised AYUSH college in UP, you are eligible to appear for AIAPGET (All India AYUSH Post-Graduate Entrance Test) β€” the national entrance exam for MD/MS AYUSH admissions across India.

MD AYUSH admissions are conducted through AACCC at aaccc.gov.in for Deemed and Central University seats, and through respective state counselling for state quota PG seats.
