All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal is one of the seven apex healthcare institutes set up in India. In 2006, the foundation of AIIMS Bhopal, an Institute of National Importance, was laid by an initiative launched by the Government of India, known as Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. The AIIMS Bhopal started functioning in 2012 and has been envisaged as a super specialty hospital with 960 bedded capacity.
The AIIMS Bhopal is a huge facility spread over 150 acres with a large hospital complex, residential complex, hostels, College of Medicine, College of Nursing (Center of Excellence in Nursing Education), and other essential services. Online scientific and print editions of national and international medical science journals, good volumes of books, and a sound reading venue with access to international libraries and leading biomedical databases are provided. Auditorium:
The AIIMS Bhopal Auditorium is an impressive architectural building. It is octagonal in shape and the spectator’s gallery has a capacity of 1000 seats. The entrance to the auditorium is to the north. An outdoor amphitheater adjoins the auditorium for outdoor events. The auditorium will be equipped with a synchronized sound and lighting system and green rooms.
